Amy J. Smylie
As a quiet, sensitive and ill child, Amy escaped the real world with art and story-telling, accompanied by colourful imaginary friends. The world of Grenamoya Island was in planning before she entered secondary school. She wrote the original manuscript for her first novel, "Out of Ashes", during her AS- and A-level studies. During her early years at Queen's University, Belfast, "Out of Ashes" received recognition from the Undiscovered Authors website and a shortlisting for Welsh fiction in a nationwide book competition.
Amy's goal has always been to write six books in her original series, "The Grenamoya Island Saga", with further stand-alone novels set in the same universe she has lovingly created. Her stories are accompanied by colourful illustrations, which bring her original and unusual creatures to life. Receiving praise for her world-building and characterisation has been one of her greatest joys in publishing her work, first with BookForce UK and now with Lulu. |
