Van Fleisher

Picture
After 21 years in six cities and two with an airline, TWA, I left to do my own thing as a management consultant. That’s how it seems to work - if for whatever reason someone leaves a real, Monday to Friday, 9-5 job, they become a management consultant. That’s what I did for 30 years, working in over 30 countries. So, what happens to someone who leaves management consulting?

In my case it was becoming an author and writing a book about things I know nothing about, but applying the experiences amassed during an interesting life, living and working in many different countries around the world. And looking at my own country both from within and from the outside.

My first novel was FINAL NOTICE, which had a sub-title, “What would you do if you knew, for certain, that you would die in 10, 20 or 30 days?” A sequel, FINAL ACT, is now available.

Final Notice

Fiction/Thriller

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU KNEW – FOR CERTAIN - THAT YOU HAD ONE WEEK TO LIVE?

Some would spend the time getting their legal affairs in order, revising wills, and writing out detailed instructions. Others would spend much of that time calling, writing or e-mailing family, friends, lovers and ex-lovers. Some might try to squeeze in something they have always wanted to do or visit or make an exceptional donation. Still others might clean out the refrigerator, dust the furniture, wash the floors and do the laundry. And some might kill.

The year is the very near future. Evolving technology is negatively impacting the behavior of some people – especially when combined with easy access to a gun. So when a new health/sport watch is created with the capability to accurately report when someone will die – in 10, 20, or 30 days – the result is sometimes lethal for more than just the watch-owner.

Laced with political satire, dark humor, and a dash of romance, FINAL NOTICE is a fast-paced page-turner that is, at the same time, a realistic reflection of modern society.

An entertaining story from a master of the craft.”

PERFECT RECIPE FOR A THRILLER
Mix together: Knowing when you are going to die ...
Guns ... and an Election. Add Russians and stir.

In this fast-paced sequel to Final Notice, master storyteller Van Fleisher weaves a plot that is simultaneously realistic and surrealistic ... and totally engrossing. Once again, it is set in today’s chaotic political climate and gun-crazy culture; and once again, it features the “only slightly” sci-fi watch – the VT2 – that monitors blood chemistry so accurately that it can predict the wearer’s death within 10, 20 or 30 days.

But while Final Notice asked the question: “What would you do if you knew – for certain – that you had a couple weeks to live?” ... Final Act asks: “What might others do if they knew that you only had a couple weeks to live?” And when those “others” include Bratva (the Russian Mafia) and the SVR (formerly the KGB), you have a page-turner that turns “what if” into “what is.”
