The Sugar Divorce
Non-fiction
This is the story of my recent experience losing weight and gaining muscle by maintaining a healthy relationship with my blood sugar and my insulin.I was completely frustrated by the loss of control I felt around my weight. I’m blown away at the success I’ve had in just a few weeks, and I want to share how I did it.
When I say sugar, I mean not just refined sugar but all foods that convert quickly to sugar. Maybe you’ve heard of “slow carb” (not “low-carb”). That’s another way of looking at how to eat to feel satisfied, keep your weight down, and maintain energy. Slow carb is good.

Sister Island
Non-Fiction
Sister Island is a companion book to The Sugar Divorce. It's about what happens in the longer term, while The Sugar Divorce helps with getting started on your own journey to fitness.
Six months into the process I traveled from San Francisco to Duluth, Minnesota, where I stayed with my sister for a month. A whole month of sister stuff! This is where this book got written.
After publishing The Sugar Divorce, I've spent many hours interacting with people who are finding success with slow carb foods and the short exercises. Lots of people don't even do the exercises. They have a new relationship with sugar, and that can result in a dramatic body change all by itself.
My time with my sister taught me that there are more ways to do this. It has a lot to do with moderation, and a lot to do with the way you view the food on your plate.
In Sister Island, you'll find several recipes we cooked up during our time together. The exercises are described in detail, including how few I normally manage to do on any given day. At the end you'll find 35 tips to print out, as reminders of all the ways you can keep your new promises to being fit.
I included a section describing the accumulated findings about excess sugar, insulin, and the causes of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Current science has given us strong reasons to change our approach to sugar.
See you on the other side!

Quantum Bleep - The art of visualizing
Non-Fiction
Quantum Bleep is a playful user's guide to using your imagination to create change in your life. It includes some rather unusual exercises to help you understand how to visualize, and requires only that you set aside some relaxed quiet time and the possible purchase of a carton of eggs. People who have done the exercises report a variety of positive responses including clarity, inspiration, relaxation, and an improved sense of humor.
"This book answered the question I've been asking since the '70s--how do people actually create images in their heads? It does not come naturally to me, and I've always been left out of the world of visualization. The technique described in the book made absolute sense. It's like I have a new brain! Thank you!" -- Sherry Simons
