S.P. Harrison
I am a 60 year old woman. I am the author of one book "I am a 60 Year Old Woman: How Did That Happen?" I am a socialist. I am an atheist. I am a prolific imbiber of good red wine. I am a lover of killer heels. I don't eat meat. I love books. I love writing. I love my two blokes (son and partner). I hate inequality. I hate injustice in the world. I don't like nuclear weapons and I don't like war. I don't much like politicians and I don't much like the monarchy.
I love cooking.
I don't like talking about myself very much, so I shall stop and just say hello fellow IANs.

I Am A 60 Year Old Woman: How Did That Happen?
Women, social history, humour
“Age takes us by surprise” (Goethe)
One minute she is nicking apples from the next door neighbour’s apple tree aged about 7 and a half and now she is a 60 year old woman. How did that happen?
Part memoir and part social history, this is the story of a girl who went from living in a council house to becoming the partner of a Queen’s Counsel. Told in chronological order, her life events are recounted with a mixture of wry humour, bitter resentment and savvy observation. It is a tale narrated alongside some of the significant political and social events of the time, from the 1950s to the present day. Now a 60 year old woman, she is a trim size 10. She drinks a lot of Shiraz. She wears killer heels, a leather biker jacket and skinny jeans. She rocks out with her mates in nightclubs and she goes to rock and roll concerts; she is an aging rock chick. This is the story about how an ordinary woman’s life has been lived; about the good times, the bad times and the crazy times. It is those experiences that ultimately shape us and it is those experiences that have a story to tell.
“A bird does not sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song to sing.” (Chinese proverb)
