SL Figuhr
SL Figuhr, born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1975. She earned a degree in Journalism and Communications from Point Park University. She also holds an associate of Radiology, and a certificate in Computed Tomography. She has a younger sister, who endured listening to all her stories growing up.
A fan of the macabre and fantasy, authors like Bram Stoker, Mary Shelly, Anne Rice, Edgar Allen Poe, and H.P. Lovecraft provided early influences. Other inspirations came from Tales From The Crypt, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Xena, Alias, and a host of 1980's movies. She has always had an abiding love for the written word since she was first taught to read. She takes the pieces of literature which spark her interest the most, and blends them together. SL believes we make our own destinies, and fate is to be challenged. This desire is why she explores the infinite possibilities life, and after-life, in all its myriad forms, holds for us with her writings. |
The fantasy and paranormal genres allow her a wider range for the madness contained inside her mind. Our humanity is dying, not with a bang, but with a long slow, whimper of pain. She hopes you will choose to join her in adventures and quests along the way.
And when the inevitable battles breaks out, for the safety and sanity of all party members, please don't stop and loot the bodies mid-fight. That's for afterwards.
SL holds a job working with the public. Her spare time is spent writing her own blend of fantasy along with free form poetry, attending writer's clubs, and the odd game of tennis.
Today SL lives in Charleston, South Carolina with her orange tabby Butterrum.
