Sherilyn Powers
Sherilyn Powers has been a writer and book lover since sometime before the invention of paper. She feels the two greatest innovations for mankind have been the computer - because she can finally write almost as fast as she thinks and the internet - so she can sate her constant need for knowing "why".
Sherilyn has spent her life as a teacher, albeit a reluctant one at times, and researcher. And thanks to her genetic disposition, a lot of that research has been to find out what makes people in her family such medical anomalies! |
I'm Not Crazy... I'm Allergic!
Self-help, non-fiction
After a lifetime of dealing with what she was told was depression with suicidal tendencies, “Julie” found that her problem wasn't all mysterious and uncontrollable chemical reactions or even mental illness. Medically identified sensitivities and/or allergies to foods and environmental conditions seemed to cause the same emotional and mental states she had experienced throughout the years as depression. These were mostly accompanied by so-called typical allergy symptoms, but in some cases those medically-recognized symptoms were missing. In desperation she reached out to family member and author, Sherilyn Powers, who had been looking into her own unusual reactions to foods and environment. Together they explored the connection between allergies and depression enabling Julie to take control of her life after over fifty years of helplessness. |
