Shannon Bradley-Colleary
Bradley-Colleary is a scribe, tart, provocateur on her site The Woman Formerly Known As Beautiful. Much of her work there has been syndicated by The Huffington Post, Purple Clover and Medium. She's also been featured on the Today Show, NPR, CNN, HuffPo Live and is to be published by O magazine (the Holy Land) in October. She's a former screenwriter (minion) for Lifetime, Warner Bros and more; and has three books under her belt. Her first, Into The Child, was named one of the Top 100 Indie Books of 2012 by The Kirkus Review. She's slightly mustachioed.

Into the Child: 40 Weeks in the Gestational Wilderness
Memoir Humor
Kirkus Review: "Debut author Colleary chronicles 40 weeks of pregnancy in this irreverent account. “Sometimes sweet, sometimes sassy, Colleary tells all with witty sarcasm and edgy, laugh-out-loud humor. “She begins with conception before careening through laments of sleepless nights, mood swings, weight gain and nausea with snappy remarks most pregnant women think but few express. “The former homecoming queen and INXS backup dancer, now the pregnant mommy of one, alternates between admitted snobbery (“I saw stay-at-home moms as the kind of women who sat in the fifth pew of fill-in-the-blank church, smiling with bland acquiescence, who thought Danielle Steele novels were literature”) and a self-deprecating appraisal of her blossoming physique (“Some days even my earlobes feel fat”). “Each chapter notes the gestation time, recounted in diary style, and draws readers into one delicious admission after another. Colleary professes a jealousy for the skinny, over-achieving Gwyneth Paltrow and a tendency toward fantasies involving George Clooney. “She regales with funny tales of an overbearing lactation nurse screeching about the importance of Colostrum and a would-be caregiver whose secret life, the author fears, will eventually be revealed on a daytime talk show. Colleary’s humor and warmth flow seamlessly from conception to birth in this well-written, snappy read. |
Smash, Crash and Burn: Tales From the Edge of Celebrity
Memoir Humor
From the poignant requiem for former flame (legendary martial artist, Bruce Lee's charismatic son) Brandon Lee, to the hilarious degradations of dancing at the 1990 VMAs as a Suicide Blonde for INXS to a sweet interlude with a pre-fame David Schwimmer, Bradley-Colleary brings us into the world of celebrity circa 1988-1995 through the eyes of the hapless outlier. These aren't just a series of brushes-with-celebrity anecdotes, but a rites-of-passage story where art may never bring Fame and Fortune, but can be a conduit to healing and finally finding Home. |
Married Sex: Fact and Fiction
Memoir Humor
Bradley-Colleary has written about married sex on her popular website The Woman Formerly Known As Beautiful since the spring of 2011. In that time she’s lost the respect of friends and neighbors, but gained a readership of 100K per month. This book is a compilation of the best of the author's factual married sex stories, some culled from her own life and some derived from interviews the author conducted with anonymous subjects under cover of night on a train platform in Gstaad. Bradley-Colleary also offers three short stories with a married sex leitmotif, which will be published here for the very first time. Enjoy and judge not, because Bradley-Colleary is not standing over you, brandishing a dildo, forcing you to read. |
