Scott McPherson

Aside from loving chocolate and coffee (not necessarily in that order) Scott McPherson has learned that he loves to write. He writes fiction and has published four novels prior to Ransomware and Murder (The Jack Sharp M.D. novels: Congo Mission; A Step Ahead of Death; and Witness in the Window; as well as his most recent one, Crisis On The Ice). Scott has varied interests, though he tries to focus on one at a time. He has worked for thirty-six years as a family physician. Now teaching in a Family Medicine Residency, he loves his job.
Scott writes from his life experiences and from travel. He served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force and was member of the Nebraska Air National Guard for 16 years. His duty in the Guard led to missions in far-away places. He has spent time in Turkey, Iraq, Spain, Crete, and Guam in missions related to support for Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He has been to Iceland and Antarctica as well. Now retired from the military he has found that his experience in other countries and cultures lends realism to his novels. When he isn’t writing or working, Scott McPherson is at home spending time with his wife and their dog, Finley. He loves to take long walks. It was during one of his walks that he was inspired to write his first novel. His five daughters live near and far and he dotes on his three grandchildren. He is an avid trombone player, still playing in church and in local symphonies. Scott plans to keep writing as long as the ideas flow and readers show interest in his stories. He loves to interact with other writers and readers about what has become a new passion in his life. |

Jack’s Family Practice office is in trouble. Their finances just don’t make sense and as hard as Jack and his partners work, they can’t understand why they aren’t doing better. Just as they come up with some strategies for improvement, they’re hacked. Detective Rebecca Sweate’s plate is filling up. While dealing with a murder investigation in St. Francis Hospital, St. Francis is hacked as are the city offices. Pulled different directions Detective Sweate has her hands tied when they lose computer access. She can’t decide if this murder is linked to the cyber-attack but she will pit her best officers and techs against the hacker. Then, as if she doesn’t have enough to deal with, the FBI comes in to take over. Married only a few years, Jack is trying to adapt to raising a teenager. His adopted daughter is growing up fast and he realizes how little he knows about teens. The struggles in his office weigh on his mind and a dark cloud rising up from his past, draws him in. Before he even knows he’s at risk, Jack becomes a victim.

Congo Mission begins in Dr. Jack Sharp’s younger days as a missionary in Congo in the 1980’s. As a Christian missionary Jack has stepped out beyond his comfort zone into an unfamiliar world desiring to do what he believes God wants of him. He is challenged by daily activities as he tries to learn the local language and culture surrounding him. Facing challenges in every aspect of life, from daily meals to life saving surgery, Jack’s skills, knowledge and faith are tested as he learns what existence as a missionary has to offer. Outside of his awareness, forces are gathering which will impact his life forever. His will and character get a work out as well when danger and intrigue engulf his new life. Nevertheless, his future is brightened by a beautiful young woman while the peaceful jungle erupts as the seeds of rebellion begin to grow. The corrupt John Levy sets in motion a plan to enrich himself. As his own plan dissolves his life becomes intertwined with Jack Sharp, and they find themselves thrust against each other in a deadly competition.
