Percival: The Mrodic Wars
Fantasy, Young Adult
This is a book that was written as a blog, initially, as a bed time story for my children. It tells of the story of Percival The Pig who loses his wife Bessie on their honeymoon. Teaming up with his once rivals, Basil and Thyme, he goes off in search of her. Along the way, he encounters strange and magical creatures, and enters somewhat unwillingly into adventures, when he would rather be staying at home, sunning his feet and drinking coffee. He is an unlikely hero, and yet serves as the rallying point for many peoples and races, against the evil Threye who heads a race of evil creatures called the Mrodics. Threye has magical powers, and can control the minds of many. Somewhere along the way, quite by accident, he, Basil and Thyme find true love. More than that, they form deep bonds of friendship and respect with strange people, and this is something that they would never have expected. At another level, it is a story of friendship, of new bonds formed, and of strength in the face of adversity. We all have heroism within us all, as Percival discovered, hidden strength and a will to survive. More important, he never lost sight of good, and did not succumb to weakness or evil. |
