R. H. Montgomery

R.H. Montgomery (which is me) lives in Colorado. After having spent the greater portion of my life writing for my own enjoyment and that of my friends, I decided (with encouragement from those friends) to "go public" with my scribbles. 

I write "soft" science fiction that, by popular definition, can be described as "character-driven." When I'm not writing, I read - science fiction, fantasy, and history being my favorites.

When Independent 18-year-old Mairwen Anwyll befriends Falovaar Iohvedi, a young alien explorer, she never imagines that she will end up stowing away on Fal’s ship. However, she makes the best of things despite the fact that she finds herself living with misogynistic, clannish furry humanoids for the next decade. In fact, she comes to love the S’Kai-i and enjoys the life of a pampered yet sheltered noblewoman under the protection of the powerful Iohvedi clan.

However, it wasn’t curiosity that brought the aliens to Earth; their vital resources are in short supply. The two most powerful S’Kaian factions, the Iohvedi and the Gerriaant, clash over the best way to gain access to Earth’s riches. The Iohvedi wish to contact humankind peacefully, while their rivals prefer a course of aggression. When Gerriaant takes matters into their own hands by attacking Earth with bioengineered plagues, Iohvedi takes up arms against them.

Mairwen is blissfully unaware of events until the enemies of her protectors plant the seeds of suspicion. Faced with a choice between her species and the S’Kai-i, she tries to find a way to serve both – but will she end up saving neither? 

Stowaway, to be released in June 2013, is the first book of the Iiliaevi trilogy.
