Peter Klein
Peter Klein was born and raised in Detroit, Mich. where he attended Notre Dame High, Harper Woods. After high school, Pete joined the US Navy and served as a Corpsman in New Port, RI, and Long Beach, CA. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, it was back to Detroit for a year before moving to NYC to attend The American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Klein says, "I lived in New York at the right time (mid 60's) in the Lower East Side (East Village) and enjoyed discovering the city and myself. In 1968 Klein married. In 71 he moved upstate where he raised his family and worked in the automotive aftermarket as a manufacturer's rep, traveling all of upstate NY. Then it was back down to the city for a few years as the sales manager for a firm importing automotive parts and accessories from the Far East. Missing the country life, Klein moved the family back upstate to the Adirondacks in 1987. Klein has been living in the Adirondacks for the past 30 years and has been a reporter for the Hamilton County Express for the past 16 years. It was going to work as a reporter that finally moved him to return to his early dream of writing books.
The thought of writing vampire novels came early. After first watching the original Dracula movie, Klein asked his grandmother, a German born and raised in Romania, if there were any truth to the story. The grandmother, being a sensible Catholic, responded, "That's just foolish superstition."
But the fascination with vampires didn't die. Klein says, "I think being Catholic had something to do with the vampire fascination. Here I'm talking about the blood of life, intrinsic to both the story of Jesus and vampires, and the sexual undertones of most vampire stories.
The vampires in Klein's novels are very different from those in other novels. Here again, Klein believes his Catholic background has much to do with the difference in his novels.
Klein says, "I can enjoy just about any vampire novel or movie but never find any of them in the least bit believable or scary. I figure if there were any chance of vampires being real, they would need to be natural creatures created by God for whatever reason God would create them. Therefore, even though my vampires are extremely dangerous, I do not see them as demons. I tend to view them much as I view any deadly predator. They look and act like the humans they were before they became vampires but they do need blood and take what they need when the need arises."
The hiking guide book to trails in the Adirondacks, while very different from vampire fiction, was a natural for Klein who loved the outdoors and the northern woods even when growing up in the city.
Taking a break from the vampires, Klein decided to take a look at the world of what might be best called Online Prostitution, where amateurs perform sex acts for others to watch live on their computer. This led to the novella, Confessions of an Online Male Prostitute, the story of a middle aged married man whose marriage has become sexless and where he tries to remember repressed events before he was married, and eventually leading him into a relationship with one of his online clients.
Klein recently completed his fourth vampire novel titled “Mary the Vampire."

The Dancing Valkyrie, 2nd Edition
Blood and sex. Of course love, but not the way humans think about it.
This is the recurring theme throughout The Dancing Valkyrie, a story about Mary Hoffman, librarian by day and exotic dancer by night. Mary, needing some time alone takes a hike along a secluded upstate New York trail. She is saved from two predatory young men by Beth, a beautiful woman slightly older than Mary. The two join together for the rest of the trail, becoming romantically involved along the way. Beth, it turns out is a vampire, and quickly introduces Mary to the mystical world she lives in. After inviting Mary back to her castle, built by her brother, Joseph, in a remote area, Mary is seduced into becoming a vampire as well. Joseph and Beth are hundreds of years old, and pose as brother / sister, but are husband and wife, or, in vampire terms, father and daughter. Thus begins the fascinating story of Mary's transition from human woman to vampire.

Adirondack Hikes in Hamilton County 3rd Edition
Outdoor hiking guide book
"Adirondack Hikes in Hamilton County" is the only published hiking guide aimed at trails and attractions in Hamilton County, NY, the least populated county east of the Mississippi River. In addition to being a trail guide, the book offers tips on many outdoor activities, state campgrounds, local chambers of commerce and who to call in an emergency. Readers of this books previous edition have said, "Ordered this book for our recent vacation in Hamilton County, NY. The trail descriptions are accurate, the bits of local info and history added to our enjoyment. We found the driving directions to be the ONLY ones we could rely on. All other brochures for the area were vague and landmarks were loosely described. I consider this book a must have if one is planning hiking the trails of Hamilton County."

Mary the Vampire
Horror
The novel, Mary the Vampire, continues the story that began with The Dancing Valkyrie. In this installment, Mary Hoffman, aka Erica, the erotic dancer who owns a gentlemen’s club in Schenectady, NY, continues to try to extricate herself from the watchful eyes of the FBI and CIA, as well as deal with organized crime bosses.
On a more personal level, Mary also tries to balance her love for her creator, Elizabeth Gottsched, her love for Ana, the young woman she turned into a vampire, and the love and responsibility she feels for the human, Karen Wilson who is a member to the Schenectady City Council.
Karen Wilson is one of only two humans who knows Mary is a vampire. This was the result of Mary sharing her blood with Karen as part of her effort to prevent Karen being killed by organized crime. This sharing of blood did not make it possible for Karen to become a vampire but it did cause Karen to fall wildly in love with Mary.
The relationship is complicated by the fact that Karen has two young children who came to love Mary because of Mary saving their mother’s life.
There is a back story that involves Elizabeth Gottsched and her creator and lover, Joseph Gottsched, and their having known the real Dracula, Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, also known as Vlad Dracula. It was Vlad Dracula who gifted a castle in Romania to the Gottscheds, who later duplicated the castle on property they own in the Adirondacks.
Blood, love and sex weave a complicated thread throughout the novel. The vampires in this novel are not demons but are presented as undiscovered, unknown creatures of flesh and blood, skin and bone, who easily pass as humans. Immoral by human standards, they nevertheless try to follow their own moral codes. This can best be hinted at by their view on the killing of humans by taking their blood. They see it as no different from all the plants and animals humans kill to eat and thus survive. They believe God created them, just as God created humans, and have as much right as humans do to live their lives as they see fit. They would no more apologize for being vampires than a tiger would apologize for being a tiger.
