Nigel James is a lawyer turned thriller writer, dividing his time between his homes in London and Spain. An avid sports fan, his first book, Deep Secret, was set in the world of horseracing and involved a clash between the horse racing and the adult movie industries resulting in murder, blackmail and kidnapping. His latest book, The Marbella Project, is a fast paced thriller set on the Costa del Sol in Spain. Former Special Forces soldier Dan Green seeks revenge for the murder of his son by the Russian Mafia. He recruits a member of his old regiment and the two of them take on the largest organised crime gang on the coast. Initial reaction to the book has been such that this is likely to be the first in a series.

He recruits a former comrade and the two of them embark on a revenge mission as Dan vows to bring down the family which controls organised crime along the coast. The bullets fly and the body count rises in this high octane thriller as Dan and his colleague attack the family and its interests while the family uses all its resources to track them down. The action switches from Spain to Moscow to London and then back to Spain as both sides become increasingly desperate. Will Dan achieve his objective or will his luck run out as the two sides chase each other across Europe.....

His gambling failed, and to keep afloat he borrowed huge sums from the sort of people who do not resort to courts to get their money back. Desperate to pay back his debts, he threatens and bribes one of his former team of jockeys to ‘throw’ selected races. Pat Duggan has become a leading jockey since his early days working for Morris but terrified as to what Morris might do if he refuses, he reluctantly agrees. Nicola is persuaded by her agent to accompany him to a day of corporate entertainment at Sandown racecourse, posing as his PA. There, she meets Alec and although she initially rejects his advances, she eventually agrees to a date. Soon, she falls madly in love with Alec but is desperate to keep her background from him. Ashamed of her past, she gives up her ‘acting’ career and is happy for the first time in her life. Meanwhile, Morris realises that he cannot repay his debts on the basis of Duggan throwing the occasional race and hatches a plot to ensure that Alec’s mount, Deep Secret, does not win the Gold Cup. Murder, blackmail and kidnap ensue, leading to a dramatic climax on Gold Cup day. |
