Maximian Held is an independent author and student who lives in Philadelphia. He writes weekly for askcybersecurity.com on internet and data security. Max has experience in social media and graphics arts, and is currently an aspiring blacksmith. He is currently pursuing a degree in Legal Studies from Temple University. Max has been writing fantasy stories ever since high school, when he started running a weekly Dungeons & Dragons game. He’s been reading fantasy and science fiction his entire life, and has been working towards being an author since he started reading. He writes with the hope of telling an entertaining story, and one that will inspire others to tell their own.

The Tower has always ruled as the real power behind the throne, using its influence to start wars and crush any resistance. After centuries of oppression people are rising up against it, and now a secret war rages as the enigmatic Zauberei strike from the shadows. The innocent and guilty alike are swept up in their acts of retribution against the mages who’ve never suffered for the destructive consequences of their actions. Caius, Tower Mage, has only ever wanted to help the common people he is sworn to serve. Kearika, his Protector, must fight to keep them both safe as they race to reach safety. The Zauberei are not their only problem however, factions within the Tower have seized upon the rebellion to settle old grudges. Hunted by enemies within and without they’ll have to rely on each other to survive.
