Laura Pinto
Born and raised in New Jersey, I'm a baby boomer currently living in Florida. I'm a huge fan of the music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and my books, websites, blogs, and social-network postings reflect this passion of mine. If you love oldies music, chances are you've visited at least one of my websites; my sites include Oldies Connection (www.oldiesconnection.com), which contains a wealth of info on, and literally thousands of links for, our favorite singers and groups from the golden age of rock 'n' roll; official sites for The Dixie Cups and Robin McNamara; and fan sites for Ron Dante of The Archies, Andy Kim, Joey Dee, Neil Sedaka, and legendary Brill Building composer/producer Jeff Barry.
In addition to writing, other passions of mine include reading and photography. I've never taken a photography class, and I'm not a professional in any sense of the word, but if you follow me on Instagram (@oldiesconnection) you can expect to see lots of sunrise/sunset photos, as well as a few concert shots. Oh, and the occasional food pic, too, since I love to eat almost as much as I love writing, reading, and photography! For links to all of my sites, blogs, and social media pages, as well as info on my books, please visit www.laurapinto.com. |
Life Rocks On
Fiction
Mature Content Take four great-looking, talented performers and one gorgeous, brutally ambitious entertainment magazine editor; mix with childhood poverty, dysfunctional families, abusive lovers, a sociopathic impresario, and a cruelly vengeful spouse; season with money, playthings, sex and drugs; heat to boiling, stirring constantly; serve hot. That's the recipe for a wild, multicolored, and alternately joyous and heart-wrenching trip through the 1960s and '70s and beyond, with rock & roll music providing the soundtrack. Life Rocks On is a no-holds-barred look into the lives of five young people coming into their own during the turbulent '60s and '70s—young people who are seeking happiness and success in the fishbowl of fame, clawing their way to the summit, and, through it all, facing not only the challenges unique to their line of work but also the same ones that all mortals face on a daily basis: They escape from dysfunctional households, contend with people in power, deal with the disappointment of rejection and unrequited love, suffer abuse from those who are supposed to have only their best interests at heart, battle illnesses and addiction, and lose friends and family members. Yet the human spirit keeps them going, keeps them wishing, dreaming, breathing ... and being. The D.A.'s Forever
Fiction
Mature Content What happens when four greasers from the '50s reunite in the '80s? It's 1988, and four men reunite for a special Fifties-themed homecoming celebration at their old New Jersey high school, thirty years after graduation. While in their teens, the boys had been known collectively as the D.A.’s (no relation to the legal profession)—not so much a "gang" as a tight group of friends—but time and distance have brought changes and adult responsibilities Letting go of the past proves challenging for the quartet, which consists of Frankie, the group leader and tough-guy greaser still playing the part at age 48; Denny, Frankie's best friend and the only divorced member of the group; Tony, the romantic, whose marriage and happiness are threatened by the reappearance of an old love; and Eddy, the straight-laced nerd and arguably most centered of the four thrown into emotional turmoil by the appearance of a new one. Now, all four must find the courage to leave the past behind as they come to terms with middle age and the realities of their diverse lives. The D.A.'s Forever is a nostalgic tale of friendship and romance. It’s part comedy, part drama, part satire. It’s raunchy and sexy at times; romantic and sentimental at others. It’s a story of friendship, of old love, of new love, and of a love that will never die.
