When Alex Wallace, M.D., was 18 years old at UC Berkeley, she was saved by then-rookie officer Sam Crawford of the Berkeley PD from a traffic accident. Now ten years later, she’s become a world-class researcher working in Europe, but she returns as a newly hired medical examiner, hoping to meet her hero again.
Now-Detective Sgt. Crawford once protected a traffic accident victim from her car engine explosion. It had him airlifted to the burn trauma center, but the burn scars on his back have left him deep memories of the scene and the woman.
One day he meets Dr. Alex who performs an autopsy on his unidentified victim ‘John Doe’ and finds the cause of death. They also find they have magnetic chemistry. Their relationship quickly grows after Sam discovers the truth she keeps secret.
With John Doe’s case as a precursor, Sam and his team find mysterious crimes on their hands. Soon, they realize regional incidents turn out to be a part of a statewide criminal plot. Amid police sting operations, Alex and Sam could be the next casualties…
