James Calliotte
The writing bug didn't bite me until late in life. After I started putting the bedtime stories I'd been telling my daughter on paper I gradually realized what an incredible thing writing fiction is. Those stories eventually led to my novel for kids and young adults, Wheel of Katarnum. A possible sequel to Katarnum is in the pipeline. In addition, keep your eyes open for a slightly more adult novel about a young girl fleeing the advancing Russian army in WWII, inspired by a true story!
When I'm not writing I might be chilling in Munich or Nuremberg, Germany, taking a bike tour, playing the drums in a band, cooking or just trying to stay awake in front of my PC. Away from the computer screen, my two lovely daughters, my lovely and inspiring partner and her son, and of course my intrepid tomcat provide endless hours of entertainment and companionship. I was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas USA. I have an undergraduate degree in English literature and a master's degree in English and German education. For over twenty-five years I have worked as a professional translator and technical writer at various German companies, including Siemens AG. Currently my writing interests lie in the area of fiction for children and teenagers as well as in historical fiction. I have been active in the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and have participated in the Bologna Children's Book Fair for several years. |

Rob finally seems to be getting over his daddy complex when he meets two way-out characters who blow his little world apart again: the leprechaun-like Flanagan Fleetag and Bobbel, a telepathic donkey, claim his father is being held prisoner in their homeland, the magical Realm of Katarnum. And worse, they insist Rob is the only one who can save him. So, Rob goes dad hunting. He and his friends have just a few days to find his father and snatch him from the diabolical Master of the Wheel, who plans to use him for his own depraved designs.
