What Came Before

Picture
Literary Suspense

What Came Before, was launched online at Every Day Novels on March 3, 2014 and continued through
June 6, seventy 1000-word chapters, one published each weekday, much in the tradition of Charles Dickens. Released in trade paperback July 18, 2014.

Fed up with being tied down by twenty-five years of domestic bliss and everyone's expectations, Abbie Palmer, struggling to find her creative self and asserting some independence from her husband, moves into the Tiki Palms. When he tells her, "You’ll be lonely. No man is an island," she flings back, "That's exactly what I want to be, an island. I'm sick of being a whole continent." But breaking away isn't so easy, what with cops, Molotov cocktails and Hollywood starlets, lost memories – and maybe an unknown half-sister...

Abbie soon finds herself searching for truth: the truth about her own marriage, her parents' marriage, her mother's history, her own history and as tragedy hits and new people come into her life, her own inner strength.

Pomergranate Stories

Literary Short Story

The title "Pomegranate" is inspired by the classic myth of Demeter, goddess of the grain, and her love for her daughter, Persephone, who is carried off to the Underworld by Hades. Demeter wanders the earth, refusing to let any growing thing prosper until her child is returned. Also find hints in these eight mother/daughter stories by Gay Degani of Medea, Lizzie Borden, and the mom next door.
