Ethel McMilin

Jack and Ethel have been married for 60 years and have lots of grandchildren and even two great-great-grandchildren.  McMilin worked for the Bureau of Land Management and retired as a computer specialist.  

The McMilins lived in Alaska for 14 years and enjoyed their time there.  McMilin has two fiction books written about the great state of Alaska which include incidents that actually happened.  The books give you a realistic view of living in Alaska.  The first book is called "A Cheechako's View of Alaska" and the sequel is "Mariah's Alaskan Heritage."

Among her books is one sci-fi called "Kenan's White Shadow." There are three biblical fiction books: "Deborah's Palm Tree," and "A Fool a King and Abigail," and "Naaman and Hannah."    

After the Earthquake

At first Samantha didn't know what was happening when the building began to shake. She had attended a basketball game with William when he stepped over to visit someone. Samantha realized that an earthquake was about to bring the school building down. She couldn't find her way out of the gym. A board fell on her. What was she going to do. After a struggle she managaged to get up but couldn't find her way out of the shaking building. What should she do, she wondered. She knew before too long the building would collasp. Kenan had a bad day at work. One of the relatives of his boss was hired and knew nothing about programing. He couldn't get his own work done because she required so much help. He went home a tired man. The next day some strange things happened. A picture of space ship appeared in his bedroom. It was a fantastic picture. Then food began to disppear right off his plate. Was he seeing things or was it really happening? He thought he could see a light moving around in his kitchen. He had to get ahold of himself. There was nothing there. It was just his imagination from working so hard at work. What he needed was a good rest but that wasn't what happened next.

The Last Straw

Jennifer Bowers had a hard time sleeping. Worrying about her husband had kept her awake a little too often. Once she finally went to sleep only to be awakened three hours later by a knock on the door. When she glanced at the clock she knew she had to hurry and get her children ready for school or they would be late. When she opened the door there stood two policemen. An Unpleasant Cruise

Stanley and Miranda was preparing for a cruise trip. It was to be their honeymoon although it was five years late. They both were looking forward to this experience. Stanley worked hard and to have a vacation was something he needed. They entered the ship and enjoyed all the things it offered. After a few days, the situation changed. How could their vacation turn into such a nightmare?

The Detective's Choice

As Christine entered her college to become a detective, her family tried to discourage her. In spite of the way they felt, she went to the classes and did very well. Once she was a detective, she loved the work. Her father still tried to get her to get a ladie's position but while she listened to him she kept right on with her chosen position. It did bring some friction and soon she was required to move out of the home where she was born. She thought it was time she moved out anyway. Once on her own, it was so nice not to have the continual nagging about her position. Some of her detective cases were easy and others were not quite so easily to solve and some were very interesting.

Homeless but Hopeful

Sheri married the man she loved. She never doubted his love for her. There was only one sad thing about her marriage and that was that her inlaws didn't accept her as one of the family. Her mother-in-law completely ignored her at the wedding and only listed her son's name on the gifts. Would she ever be able to change the situation sometime in the future and win her inlaw's favor? She could only hope.
