Edward V'Kanty
Edward V'Kanty is a horror/dark fiction author with an eye towards filmmaking. He would describe his preferred genre(s) essentially as dark fiction, which includes fantasy and science fiction, as well as horror. He rarely writes typical slasher stories, because there are so many of them, but also because he doesn't generally find a big thrill in those types of stories. A man can be defeated; he can be arrested or killed. I find antagonists of the supernatural realm (spirits, demons, aliens, etc.) to be far more exciting for the simple fact that defeating such a foe may seem impossible to the protagonist and will undoubtedly require all of the strengths each human being carries within his/her soul. Those that enjoy Edward V'Kanty's writing enough to continue reading his work will find that his protagonists come from widely different pasts, including LGBT communities, varying ethnicities, and those with physical impairments. This is not a conscious decision on his part to make some sort of social commentary, although he does believe literature and film should better represent people from all walks of life. These characters, like each of us, simply are who they are and it's their abilities (and sometimes their shortcomings) that make them the hero/heroine.
