Dorothy Mai

Dorothy Mai spent her formative years in Los Angeles, California when her family arrived from Vietnam at the end of the Vietnam and American War. After obtaining a B.S. in Molecular Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, she moved to Houston, TX to attend optometry school at the University of Houston, College of Optometry. Like her fictional character Dr. Thi Trí, O.D., Dorothy Mai is an optometrist who works in the Greater Houston area. She is residency trained in Low Vision and Rehabilitation. During her optometric career, she has worked in a multitude of optometric clinical settings. These settings include: an ophthalmology group, private and corporate optometry practices, non-profit organizations and at the University of Houston, College of Optometry. While at the College of Optometry, she participated in and presented research at several optometry meetings and has published research in several peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Thi Tri, O.D. (pronounced "tea tree") is devoted to helping people. As an optometrist, she uses her skills to solve eye mysteries and improve people's vision. Not as adept at business, Dr. Tri seeks comfort from the daily grind that wears on her mental health in sleuthing. She helps her policeman friend successfully solve peculiar burglary cases. However, she will need all her imagination and analytic skills to solve the murder of a friend at an eyecare industry convention. Can she catch the killer(s) before they slip out of sight?
