David Burrows
I grew up in the Fylde, Lancashire but now live in Kent in the UK with my lovely wife and two great sons. My books have won a Gold Award on one Website and featured as Book of the Month on another, so my author pedigree is certainly growing.
I think my fantasy writing has benefited from real life experiences: hours slogging up and down mountains as well as fighting in shield walls as a Saxon warrior. I can tell you that the fighting feels real and although not maimed or killed, I have cracked fingers and ribs on several occasions. I also have a great assortment of helmets, mail, swords and shields. My books include Drachar's Demons and a trilogy The Prophecy of the Kings, comprising Legacy of the Eldric, Dragon Rider and Shadow of the Demon - sample chapters and reviews can be found on my website. Motivated by LOTR I put pen to paper, determined to create a story with bold characters and an intriguing plot. The book's initial scene was a betrayal set deep in the heart of a mountain. Encouraged by my friends, I started writing The Prophecy of the Kings in the months during my wife's pregnancy with the first of my two terrific sons. As with most aspiring authors, writing is part time, with the plots progressing in the evenings and holidays. At times my tales seemed to naturally take the characters into extreme peril, and for months I was left wondering as to their fate. Refusing to rewrite the tale to rescue them I patiently waited before inspiration struck and the story continued at a fast pace to the next cliff-hanger. Suffice to say my sons have now grown up and, as the quill dries, are of an age to read and appreciate this work. As to the characters in my tale, they too have grown older and wiser; as to whether they survived the tale, only reading the novel will tell. |
Book 1 of the Prophecy of the Kings: Legacy of the Eldric
Fantasy
In a land fraught with danger, Vastra seeks an Eldric talisman to enhance his ever growing powers. Selfish and uncaring he uses people regardless of their fate. He imposes his will on Kaplyn and Lars, recruiting them to his aim, but Kaplyn is strong willed and not easily swayed. Lars, shipwrecked and friendless is an outcast in more ways then one. Together the three men seek what became of the Eldric. Vastra, initially in charge, soon finds himself forced to follow Kaplyn and as his dreams are initially fulfilled, Kaplyn becomes a thorn in his side. An epic fantasy set in a unique world as dragons, demons and guardian angels are set to clash. |
Book 2 of the Prophecy of the Kings: Dragon Rider
Fantasy
Kaplyn awakens in a cavern and at first his memory seems to be playing tricks on him. Dragons haunt his dreams and yet dragons do not exist. Whenever he sleeps he dreams that dragons are hunting him and only a thin veil separates him from them. Terror stalks his nightmares and fear walks hand in hand in his waking life. All is not as it seems. He, Lars and Lomar have survived their underground sojourn, but something is not right. Once allies, Thrace and Allund seem to be on the precipice of war. A war that strikingly has all the hall marks of Trosgarth, the ancient enemy. Drachar too seems implicated. Is the Prophecy coming to pass and is a Second Krell War imminent? Disaster seems to be about to strike, for the Eldric have gone and with them the only means to fight the demons. A war is coming. A war like no other. |
Book 3 of the Prophecy of the Kings: Shadow of the Demon
Fantasy
Events are coming to a head. The battle for CarCamel has ended and Kaplyn is seen as the saviour. Catriona, the Thracian Queen, wants him to lead the army in its fight against Trosgarth, leading the army with a dragon at his command. Kaplyn, however, has other ideas. He fears dragons and does not know why. His dreams remain plagued by the great serpents, but yet one helped them. It is a conundrum and Kaplyn decides to pursue an image shown to him by Astalus, the Thracian wizard. The image was of Vastra, now an old man, held captive in Aldrace. Kaplyn harbours a terrible fear. Vastra recovered a crystal from the Tree of Life and, with it, he can open a gateway to the demon world. A permanent one! Should that happen then nothing can prevent Drachar’s Shade from crossing the Great Divide, at the head of a demon horde. |
Drachar's Demons

Madness tears at Drachar, a constant reminder of what should happen if he fails in his bloody pact; delivering one hundred thousand souls to the demons in exchange for the greatest of power. The Eldric must learn to summon demons of their own to stand any chance against Drachar’s deadly arsenal of krell, demons and grakyn. Magic and swords clash together in a war of such catastrophic proportions that the world will be forever stricken. Join Drachar the outcast as he rises to omnipotence.
