Alien Ice Cream

Picture
Heroes A²Z are chapter books for middle elementary school readers. They are most popular among 2nd – 4th graders, and are written at a 3.5 reading level. Because the books have drawings on EVERY page, younger readers can follow along and enjoy the stories. The books make great real-alouds.

In the first book, Alien Ice Cream, the heroes try to keep their cool on the hottest day of the year. Soon, however, they discover that not all ice cream is created equal. Some is created by aliens who have plans to take over the world.

Aware of the Wolf

Knightscares is written for upper elementary and middle school readers. The books are generally rated at the 5.5 – 6.0 reading level. We find that independent readers 4th grade and up enjoy the stories most. Of course they also make great read-alouds for student audiences.

In Knightscares #8: Aware of the Wolf, Noah and his sister Naomi think they have problems. When bullies chase them into the deadly needlespine pines, one loud noise could be their last.

A boy named Ian rescues them, but he has his own troubles. He has been turned into a werewolf by a terrible curse.

To break the curse, the kids set off across the frozen wastes of Neverthaw, land of ice and storm. They hope to make a deal with a dragon. But dragons are cunning and their deals always have a price.
