David Angier
I was a newspaper reporter for nearly 20 years, covering courts and crime in three states. Always a Florida boy, though, I spent my last 12 years in Panama City, a small resort town in the Florida Panhandle that is the center of odd news. In the last two years I've released my first two books, both true accounts of incredible events here in the Redneck Riviera: "Salvaged Santa" and "The Madness of Joe Francis". I'm a graduate of the University of Florida's School of Journalism and Communications (92) -- Go Gators!

The Madness of Joe Francis
nonfiction, true crime, entertainers, biography, courtroom drama
Released January 2013, the true story of Girls Gone Wild mogul Joe Francis' eight-year courtroom battle with officials in the small, Southern resort town of Panama City Beach. It started with a warning, that Francis mistook as a publicity stunt, and ended with a broken Joe Francis weeping in court and losing a portion of his mind while sitting in solitary confinement surrounded by murderers. The numerous cases that resulted ended in 2011 with the craziest federal trial of all time - with the manic and irrepressible Francis acting as his own lawyer with $117 million on the line. |
Salvaged Santa
nonfiction, true crime, Christian
On Dec. 14, 2010, a suicidal gunman held six members of the Bay County School Board hostage, then opened fire, in an episode that was captured and broadcast live by news cameras. Security Chief Mike "Salvage Santa" Jones burst through the door, drew the gunman's fire and brought him down - saving all six men's lives. This is the true story of God's difficult path that put Jones in that room that day. It's the inspiring story of a person who used the obstacles in his life to become a good man, a faithful Christian and ultimately a true hero. |
