I've long had a love of writing, history and graphic novels so when an exceptionally talented artist friend suggested that I write a story for him to put some pictures to, I jumped at the chance. Having just read Ian Kelly's wonderful biography of Casanova, and discovered how little I knew about him, apart from the media myth, I realised what a great character he would be to build a narrative around. Eight years later and not only have we created a 250-page graphic novel but a web site to host it (a site which also contains a wide range of blogs and 18 long form articles dedicated to Casanova's life and times). We're now working on the sequel, but we're hopeful that won't take another eight years!
