An ancient gateway is about to reopen. Its emergence will transform the Earth. But, while creatures of myth and legend struggle to find their place in the modern world, an enemy patiently waits across the stars. Terrified and confused, as the first human to evolve, Sam seeks help from the only person who won’t run in horror, Emily. But the more they learn about Sam’s transformation, the more they realize how little humanity knows about itself. As Sam’s evolution progresses, more and more people begin to evolve. The quest to become normal, is quickly sidelined by the need to simultaneously broker peace and prepare for war.
