Charles Stern
Born into a military family, Charles traveled from one end of America to another and halfway across the Pacific Ocean. Through these travels and his school years, he grew to be a keen observer of mannerisms and accents the world over, and became a writer and artist nearly as soon as he learned to read and draw. He's worked in newspapers, on stage, in movies, television, and music.
Charles converted his prolific output of script and storyboard material for television programs he'd created (for which he'd canvassed Hollywood agents) into slick, edgy hero comics speaking to social issues: dating, sex, relationships, self-image, money, pop culture, depression, drugs, caring for aging parents, staying strong in the face of discrimination, raising children, weddings, faith, hope, dreams, and plenty of love: expressing it, feeling it, finding it, making it, losing it, and finding it again. In social media, Charles fostered endearing net friendships and built gallery portraits of his followers modeled into his hero stories. His latest two books are virtually Volumes 1 and 2 of a single body of work, lush panels detailing life and love situations with which anyone may identify and experience. |
