Adam Mann (Mike Lord)
Mike Lord worked in developing countries in sub-Saharan Africa for 25 years and then for another 25 years in South and East Asia before he retired. Mike has now written over twenty books including three historical novels, two thrillers and his autobiography. He has always been fascinated by personal relationships, and in real life is now enjoying his fourth marriage, after being widowed, divorced, and having had one marriage annulled as this ‘wife’ had forgotten to get divorced.

Hanoi Heat: Even the Ants Are Drinking Water
Romance
The story is set in modern day Ha Noi, told in the first person, with the two main characters resident there. Nicky is a Vietnamese woman, aged 28, still living with her mother who tells her her father was French, but she has only very limited and disappointing sexual experience. She works as an organiser in a fashion house, and is asked to represent them at an Embassy Reception. She dresses attractively and wears high heels to show off her legs, and has long black hair but worn in an unusual fashion. She meets Tony at the reception, who is immediately attracted to Nicky. Tony is older, is a widower, and is a ‘foreigner’ who has been living and working in Vietnam for some time. Tony is not a ‘professional’ seducer, but after the reception Tony and Nicky decide to have dinner together and coffee. The next day they meet again by chance, and this meeting results in dinner, some mutual seduction and unbridled sex. Tony lives and works in an hotel in downtown Ha Noi, which is his base for working in projects in provincial Vietnam. Nicky is surprised at her own reaction to naked sex with Tony, even wantonness, and allows herself to be undressed, stimulated and made love to by Tony, finding in him more than an attractive man, but exhilarating lover, and in a short space of time a ‘partner for life’, and the father of her daughter. |

Singapore Heat
Romance
The story is set in Singapore in the 1980s, when the young and dynamic country is still emerging towards social and economic independence. Six people, three men and three women, who live and work there, become involved in a series of meetings and/or their explicit sexual encounters over a four week period, between themselves, and other people from a wide ethnic range. Jealousy and violence enter the picture and the life of one character is lost, by accident, or design! The book is written in five chapters, with the first four chapters detailing the life style, work and experience of one or two of the six characters and their interaction with the other five people over a simultaneous time span of about four weeks. The final chapter ties together the results of the first four chapters. In one case romance unexpectedly follows, and those two persons can be regarded as the ‘happy ever after’ conclusion. One character dies, or is killed, which brings the six characters together in court. Three find themselves leaving Singapore, forever. |

He meets the tenant, Makshi (55), an Indian lady nutritionist, but whilst they are enjoying a coffee together a man with a baseball bat attacks her car. He is confronted by Makshi and Harry, and attacks Harry in a drug induced rage, just missing his head with the baseball bat, but badly bruising his shoulder. The baseball bat has a mind of its own and breaks the attacker’s leg. Harry would have continued on his journey to childhood places and meeting old friends, but stays overnight with Makshi before she takes him to her hospital for x-rays and treatment. Harry agrees to stay with Makshi for several days, ostensibly to let his shoulder mend, but their relationship develops over those days, with several explicit sexual acts which surprises both of them. Their relationship matures and they decide to live together, sometimes feigning marriage, which many people assume they are. |

Romance anthology
One man meets five attractive ladies where he is working in the west coast of Africa, each of whom has a different background. Mutual attraction is followed by explicit sex in each case. Just after Independence, Nigeria is a broad mix of individuals, many of whom are working to improve the lives and livelihoods of farmers. In the 1970s horses and polo were an integral part of life for both foreigners and locals, and went a long way to break down barriers. In Adam’s novella a man whose middle name is by coincidence Audley is happily married with three daughters, and in his travels he stays in various small quest houses. Over years he is seduced by daughters in each house, and when each becomes pregnant he “marries” each of them.
