The Featured Author Contest
Guidelines and Rules
We started this contest as a way to attract book buying readers to the site. This is not a “vote in” or a popularity contest. We expect all those who participate to act responsibly and honorably. Our goal is to sell books and to increase exposure for all members.
Please advertise your IAN page by inviting all who see your post ot tweet to stop by and check your page. ie “Check out my IAN author page at….” or “Visit me and the other talented authors at IAN….”
Please do not to ask your friends for "hits" to your IAN page. Please do not announce you are in a contest. This can cause enthusiastic, over-zealous friends to multi-click your page. Multi clicking can send several dozen or even several hundred hits to your page in a short time. Unfortunately this is not true traffic. This is cheating! This practice will NOT be tolerated. If we suspect multi-clicking or any other unfair practice you will be disqualified and your IAN member page will be deleted.
What can you do to increase traffic?
Our website hit count software can differentiate between self clicks, multi clicking and unique visitors! :)

2011 Featured Author Contest Winners
John L. Betcher (January 2011 Winner!)
His book on volleyball coaching philosophies entitled THE LITTLE BLACK BOOK OF VOLLEYBALL COACHING, Insights From the Trenches, has been selling nationwide and is currently available at Amazon.com.
Mr. Betcher has also published a series of "Beck" suspense/thriller novels. The first two are THE 19TH ELEMENT, a James Becker Thriller and THE MISSING ELEMENT, A James Becker Mystery. His latest release is A Higher Court, One Man's Search for the Truth of God's Existence. Elizabeth Wilder (February 2011 winner)
Elizabeth Egerton Wilder’s debut novel, The Spruce Gum Box, a novel of historical fiction, began with her fascination with Maine’s Aroostook River and its early pioneers, and evolved over several years through research and daydreaming. While she mused, characters and story lines began to flourish and take on lives of their own. As she puts it, “I knew how the story would start and how it would end, but had no idea what would happen in between.”
Throughout the process, the author drew upon stories and people from her childhood, research on her husband's family in northern Maine along with her varied background in a number of artistic endeavors. She has a BA in Art and Education and has worked as a teacher, designer, colorist, small business owner, photographer and artist. She is also a published poet and believes that bits and pieces of it all, combined with raising her family and her innate appreciation of nature, were all the ingredients needed to fulfill her lifelong goal of writing a book. At seventy-two years young, she achieved her goal and is working on a sequel. Native of New England, Elizabeth (Betty) now lives in Eastern PA with Cal, her husband of over 51 years, and her cat Smokey. IAN Member Page M. R. Mathias (March 2011 winner)
The jewel you see glowing in the ring in my authors photo isn't really a jewel at all. It is the crystallized tear of a real dragon. In my novel "The Royal Dragoneers" you might find the moment where this wonderfully magical tear drop fell from a green dragons eye. It hardened on its way down to land in a mess of troll corpses that the dragon was laying on.
My grandfather died before I was born, but the ring was given to me by my mother, after my grandmother recently died. My grandfather had apparently won it in a poker game near the Red River between Texas and Oklahoma sometime in the early 1900's. It has been a boon, the magic of the teardrop, for it brought you here to me didn't it? Now treat yourself to something fantastic and try out the free sample of one of my novels. I hope you enjoy the journey. It will be spectacular. IAN Member Page L. Carroll (April 2011 winner)
Before pursuing what seemed to be a shelved dream of becoming an author, L. Carroll worked in corporate management and training, first in the field of retail home décor, and then for a small book chain. It took being surrounded by books day in and day out for her to finally realize that her passion for writing had been squelched long enough, and so the world of Lor Mandela was born.
With four young adult children and one pre-teen of her own, she's had a wealth of inspiration for her characters; her writing is strongly influenced by her own parent/child experiences.Currently, she resides in Eagle Mountain, Utah with her husband, Chuck, and their five children. IAN Member Page Jeannie Walker (May 2011 winner)
Jeannie Walker is a freelance writer and award winning songwriter. She studied creative writing in New York and Connecticut and is a member of the International Association of Writers. She is an avid reader of mystery novels and the ex-wife of a murdered man. She resides in Texas.
IAN Member Page Sharon Cupp Pennington (June 2011 Winner)

Joe Vizanko (1966 to ?) Born in Dodgeville Wisconsin but grew up on the West Coast, An Engineer in California's Silicon Valley, A veteran of the armed services and now an aspiring writer.
Joe Vizanko Lori L. Otto (December 2011)
After an exhilarating, collaborative writing project, Lori L. Otto had an idea for an original novel. The characters and their rich stories would keep her awake at night, and even with barely any sleep, she felt more alert and alive than she had in years. Her days off were spent in cafés, sandwich shops and bookstores, feverishly trying to get all of the details out of her head and onto paper.
In the spring of 2009, after a few months of writing, Lori decided to tweak one chapter from the novel-in-progress and enter it as a short story in the 78th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition, where she was awarded Honorable Mention in the Mainstream/Literary Short Story category. A year later, she completed a series of three novels, with the hopes of one day having them published. She is currently working on her next series and a screenplay! Lori L. Otto |
