Q. What is The Independent Author Network?
A. The Independent Author Network is a group of like minded authors who are self published or published by a small indie press. The group is open to authors who are active social networkers at sites like Twitter, facebook, LinkedIn etc. The group works together to support and promote each other online.
Q. How does I.A.N. work?
A. Members are asked to Tweet and facebook their IAN Member page and the pages of the other authors. If a member has a new book releasing, a book signing, a blog tour or any event the info would be posted to our blog and the others Tweet, blog, Facebook etc. the event as their time allows.
Q. What is the cost to join?
A. Yearly Basic membership is free at IAN, however to help cover rising site costs we require new members to please pay a one time set up fee If you have 1-6 books to promote the Membership setup fee is $24.95. Please contact us if you have more than six books to promote.
Q. Will I need to pay this fee yearly?
A. No this is a one time fee and will not be charged again!
Q. What else do I need to join?
A. All new members must have a book that is published or near publishing at a small mainstream independent press or is self-published. We ask that all members have a twitter. Other useful accounts include: facebook, LinkedIn, GoodReads, Shelfari as well as a blog and website.
Q. What would I receive with my membership?
A. A Basic Membership is a full Member Page with BIO, large book covers, up to 6 books with buy links, PDF sample downloads, 2 video trailers, and the ability to sell print copies. Up to 6 books included in the Book Directory A supportive author environment. Your book video trailer in the Trailer Park.
Q. Will I have direct access to my member page to make changes?
A. No. We set up the original page and then make all future additions and changes for you. This leaves you more time to write!
Q. Can I add a YouTube trailer to my page?
A. Yes
Q. Can I add my Radio Interview to my IAN page?
A. Yes as long as it is in a MP3 file.
Q. Can I add Amazon, Smashwords and Barnes&Noble.com links for my books?
A. Absolutely! Also any other links you would like.
Q. I have an associate account at Amazon. Can I add affiliate product links links for my books?
A. Yes! Send the html code to us and we will get the link added ASAP.
Q. Can I sell my own print copies from my IAN page?
A. Yes, we just need a Paypal html code and your sales info.
Q. I'd like to have a sample Chapter downloadable from my page. Is that possible?
A. Yes, we just need a sample chapter or two for each book in a PDF or word file.
Q. My book won't be published for several weeks. Can I still join?
A. Yes! We'll just place your book as "coming soon!"
Q. I don't have an Amazon.com URL or any other bookstore URL as I only sell my books through my website. Can I join?
A. Sure. We will list your website as the buy now website.
Q. Can you publish my book?
A. No, we are not a publishing company.
Q. I'm not a published book author. Can I still join?
A. Only authors who have published or will publish in the next 2-6 months can join.

A. IAN Gold Page membership is designed for authors who do not utilize social networking to promote their books. This allows authors without a Twitter account to enjoy all the exposure and support as members who are avid Tweeters and Facebookers! IAN Gold Page membership is also perfect for authors who have a large number of books to promote.
Q. I don't have time to tweet my member page. Can I still join?
A. Yes. However if you don't tweet your page regularly it won't see much traffic. You would be better off with a Gold Member Page. If you have a Basic Page membership and:

- You ignore your page it will most likely see less than 20 hits per month.
- Gold Page members will see 500 to over 1,000 hits without tweeting.
